What is the relationship between tone and expectations?




Mr. Romagnolo says, "Your expectations are what you allow them to do, not what you say." How could you apply this distinction in your own class?

The five principles of Classroom Culture: Discipline, Control, Management, Engagement and Influence

Discipline - Many teachers do not take the time to teach their students what successful learning behaviour looks like
Management - The reinforcing of behavior needs to go hand in hand with the other four principals
Control - The capacity to cause someone to do what you ask. The importance of language and relationships
Influence - Getting students to believe. (Getting them to behave is more visible).
Engagement - Giving students plenty to say "yes" to, get involved in, lose themselves in. Transformation often begins with outside influences - Students often change from the "outside in"

There is synergy between these five principles.
